My focus on portraits reflects my genuine and irrepressible interest in people. Eschewing the image of artist as a solitary observer, I paint because I am inspired by the people I know and meet and I am ever grateful that art has given me a creative and eclectic community. In recent years I have also been fascinated by the relationship between people and their animals. Animal portraits were a natural response going back to the paintings I did of my own dogs. I can see personality in animals and love to capture that on canvas.
